Who do I pay and what kind of payment do you accept? All our pet hosts are under contract with Dogs in Dreamland (Orlando Pet Connections, LLC). The way our relationship works is that they focus 100% of their attention on caring for your dogs ,and we take care of everything else like advertising, reservations, payment, etc. We accept credit cards, cash or checks made payable to Orlando Pet Connections. You can give the check to your pet host family. All gratuity on the check goes to your pet host family.
How do I get started with your Dogs in Dreamland? Please click on the “Contact Us” link. Once we receive your service request we will help you locate the pet host families near your home and make sure that if you have a favorite pet host family we will find out if they are available and try to match you to the pet host you requested.
Where would my dog sleep? Wherever they feel comfortable, on the couch, on their bed or on our bed. Of course, we are happy to enforce any “house rules” you have for your pets, for example keeping them off the furniture.
How do you select the host families? First, we ask the pet host a lot of questions, and request that they send us pictures. After a phone conversation with them, we visit each pet host family to inspect their home. We make sure that the pet hosts spend most of their time at home and that their home is safe and pet friendly. We also make sure that the pet host is knowledgeable about pet care. In addition, we offer them further pet related education.
May I offer gratuity to my pet host? Yes, 100% of the gratuity on your payment goes to your pet host.
Will I meet the host who will care for my dog? Yes. When you contact us, we will match you with two or three pet hosts who are the closest to you. The pet hosts who are available to board your dog will email you. We recommend that you visit two or three families, to make sure that you find the best matching pet host family for your baby.
Can I bring them their favorite toys and bed? Yes, in face we encourage it. They are allowed to have their special toys, treats and bed but always make sure to send in their food, because sudden changes in their diet may cause stomach upset. Please make sure that all toys and beds are freshly washed.
Does my dog go for walks? Yes, as much or as little as your request. If you have a set schedule for your dog, we will follow your routine. Many of our pet host families have a backyard where they take numerous break during the day.
Is there a pool where my dogs can swim? Yes, some of our host families do have pools. Please request this when you are requesting service and we will make every attempt to place you in a home with a pool.
Are you going to follow my feeding schedule? Y es, we always make sure to follow your instructions, even if the schedule of another dog in our home do not coincide with your dog’s schedule.
My dog is a “special needs pet”, will you consider taking him in? Pets with special needs are always welcome, however, it is very important that you give us very clear instructions about their particular needs. A surcharge may apply for special needs dogs.
Will I have the same pet host for future boarding? You may request the same pet host for future boardings. If the pet host who you choose is available at the time you need private dog boarding, we will honor your request.
Are you able to perform in case of an emergency? Yes, we have years of experience caring for dogs. If medical attention is needed, we will take your pet either to its vet or to the nearest emergency veterinary office (if your vet is not available or far away).
Will I be able to drop off/pick up my dog late in the evening or early in the morning? Yes, as long as arrangements are made prior to drop off/pick up.
Can I call in to find out how my dog is doing? Yes, you may call as many times as you wish. Some of our pet hosts are on Facebook , so you can see your pet on our Facebook Page. The pet host will send you an email at the end of the first day to let you know how your dog has adjusted to its new environment.
Will my dog be caged? Absolutely not, there are no cages here. However, if you have a puppy that is being crate trained and you provide the cage, we will, as always, follow your rules regarding your pet’s care!
Will you take my dog to a leash-free dog park? Safety is first so for this reason, we will not take your dog to a leash-free park. However, most of our host families have a fenced in yard for your dog to run around.
Will you groom my dog prior to pickup? Yes, we will take your dog to a groomer prior to pickup for an additional charge.
What happens if my pet becomes ill or injured? In any emergency, we will always try to reach you or your emergency contacts. If necessary, your pet host or a representative from Dogs in Dreamland will take your dog to your veterinarian and coordinate the care necessary.
